Experiencing this museum is a journey in time and tradition. Along the way one meets brand names and images representative of the many facets of the industry. Some are legends in the industry. Many are current, others have evolved into other brands, been absorbed by other companies, or are now, only memories. The Baking arts are as old as mankind.The literature of every language is replete with references to bread: "Bread - the staff of life"... "Give us our daily bread" ..."A loaf of bread and thou" ..." bread cast upon the water"..."Half a loaf is better than none" -"Breaking bread" is one of the ultimate acts of hospitality between people. It is a logical outgrowth from the immersion into the products and equipment of the baking industry that a reverence developed for the pathfinders of the industry. The well stocked shelves and incredible variety of baked goods are directly related to the marketing courage that produced the artifacts seen throughout this museum and, in fact, are visible to every employee in every corner of the plant surrounding this museum. The lovingly preserved pushcart is a precursor of the giant trucks moving bakery products across this nation, every hour of every day. Enjoy the museum. |
