In the early 1970s, Russ Bundy's used pan business was growing. Customers that purchased pans from Russell T. Bundy Associates usually asked to have the pans cleaned and glazed prior to shipping so they could put them into service upon arrival.
To meet customer expectations, Russ needed a dependable source for cleaning and glazing the pans he sold. At the time, the only companies engaged in cleaning and glazing were other new pan manufacturers. None were doing a quality job in this area and other bakers in the Midwest shared Russ's dissatisfaction with the lack of quality providers.
So in 1975, Russ opened his first Pan-Glo facility in Urbana, Ohio, to make quality pan cleaning and coating services readily available to Midwestern bakeries. Word of Pan-Glo's quality, attention to detail, and superior customer service quickly spread throughout the commercial baking industry. To meet growing customer demand, a second Pan-Glo plant was built in Maple Shade, New Jersey (This plant has since been relocated to Bethlehem Pennsylvania). Plants in St. Louis, Missouri; Phoenix, Arizona; Atlanta, Georgia; and Jacksonville, Florida soon followed.
Over time, Pan-Glo has grown to dominate the industry, buying out its largest competitor, Ekco Products in 1998, which added plants in Charlotte, NC, Rockdale, IL and Worcester, MA. That year also saw the formation of Pan-Glo Services, a division formed in conjunction with Michael Thew of AIC located in Portland, Oregon. Pan-Glo Services locations in Phoenix, Arizona; Houston, Texas; Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; and San Francisco, California serve bakers throughout the western U.S.
Today, Pan-Glo's reputation is continuing to grow and now crosses international borders with the formation of Pan-Glo de Mexico. Located in Toluca, Mexico, this facility opened in June 2002 to serve bakers throughout Mexico and Central America. Pan-Glo de Mexico is a multifunctional facility offering cleaning and glazing as well as DuraShield re-coating and sales for American Pan Company.
As of March 2002, a third division, Pan-Glo America, was formed to provide cleaning and glazing to retail establishments that have fewer than 1000 pans in inventory. Pan-Glo America provides one stop shopping with little or no disruption to the establishments operation or their ability to make their full line of products. Pan-Glo America operates from each of the 13 Pan-Glo and Pan-Glo Services locations nationwide. |
